Some people prefer the merry go round because there are no surprises, it just goes around and around.
But some people prefer the roller coaster because of all the twists, turns, and surprises.
And that is how she looked at life.
Are you someone that loves the merry go round or the roller coaster?
The fair was in town and by some miracle, you had convinced Whisper to let you take her out on a date!
...okay, so you also had to promise to pay for all her meals and snacks, win her a prize, and buy her dinner afterwards.
BUT- all very reasonable requests, right? Right. At least that is what you told you as you walked up to the main gate and stood near the ticket booth; the spot you had both agreed to meet up at 1900 that day.
It was an unusually warm autumn day, especially for this time for year. While it was not hot, it was still mild enough to wear summer clothing. Fidgeting with your phone, you kept glancing at the time: 1857.
What if she stands me up and I'm just standing here like an idiot-
"Hey, I'm here! I hope I did not keep you waiting too long..." Your intrusive thoughts are interrupted as the lyolf comes bouncing up to you in a playful pink and lavender outfit, though it was her smile that stood out more than anything. She did show. You were not sure why, but just seeing her here made you happy.
Quizzically looking at you and wondering why you were just staring at her, Whisper nudged you towards the entrance...your nose immediately hit with the smell of fresh popcorn, funnel cakes, and corndogs. You weren't hungry before, but now that you were here and surrounded by all the delectable smells, you were getting a bit peckish.
"What do you want to do first? Go on the roller coaster? Go to the petting zoo? Or, we can play some of the carnival games. I did promise I would win you a stuffed animal..." You rattled off several suggestions, hoping something would pique her interest, but her eyes seemed fixated on the merry go round a few yards away; your eyes eventually following hers, "Oh...you want to ride that?"
Taking her hand, you lead her to it, and hand the operator the tickets for it. Watching her cautiously pick out a horse to sit on before he started up the ride, you decided to stay on the ground and watch- and maybe steal a picture or two of her to remember the day by.
It has been a while, hasn't it? What better way to wind down the summer than a trip to the fair!

I want to give a BIG thanks to the artist behind this piece: savrasova. I just want to point out she not only designed the outfit, BUT also gave Whisper a new hairstyle for the summer and it is so freaking cute :)
Been super behind on posting art lately, but real life comes first unfortunately (the joys of being an adult). Hope everyone is doing well~
